NASA launches advanced satellite to improve weather forecast

NASA on 18 November 2017 successfully launch a highly advance polar orbit satellite to improve weather forecasts for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The satellite Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS-1) was launch through a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Californial.

• The advance technology will help improve weather forecasts up 7 days in advance.
• This is the first in a series of four such satellites in a collaborate programe between NOAA and NASA.
• The solar array on JPSS-1 deployed approximate after the launch and the space-craft was operate on its own power.
• The satellite will be renamed NOAA-20 when it reach ,it is final orbit.
• It will become operation after a 3 month check out and validation of its 5 advance instruments.

It is expect to improve weather forecasting such as predicting a hurricane's track and will help agencies involved with post-storm recovery by visualizing storm damage and the geographic extent of power outages.
