First Computer Virus
On 19 January 1986, the first computer virus was made to BRAIN, which was capable of affecting storage media present in the computer boot sector of the DOS operating system. It was made by two Pakistani brothers Basit Farooq Alvi and Amjad Farooq Alvi.
Brain is the industry standard name for a computer virus that was released in itsfirst form in January 1986, and is considered to be the first computer virus for MS-DOS. It infects the boot sector of storage media formatted with the DOS File Allocation Table (FAT) file system.
The first widespread virus for an IBM PC operating system was called Brain. Like Elk Cloner, it was also a boot sector virus, although its creators had little in common with Skrenta. Pakistani brothers Basit and Amjad Farooq Alvi say they had't heard of him or Elk Cloner when they wrote Brain in 1986.
Brain affects the IBM PC computer by replacing the boot sector of a floppy disk with a copy of the virus. The real boot sector is moved to another sector and marked as bad. Infected disks usually have five kilobytes of bad sectors. The disk labels is usually change to ©Brain, and the following text can be Show in infected boot sectors:-
